A weekend with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures for male-identifying young people to explore their passion for dance

Hosted at The Place, Boys in Motion is back for another year with a weekend of exciting, explorative dance workshops taught by industry-leading male-identifying dance artists from New Adventures and supported by The Place musicians.

This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for young boys to discover their interest in dance in a high energy, creative environment.

Participants will work with artists from Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures over two days engaging in material from the company’s production of ‘Lord of the Flies’. In this ground-breaking dance-theatre show, a group of schoolboys find themselves abandoned. With no adults around they start to make their own rules and create their own civilisation, before order breaks down and the story builds to an electrifying climax. During the workshops, we will explore the themes and choreography from Lord of the Flies through contemporary, ballet, and creative exercises.

The cost for the weekend is £80, bursary’s are available to those who qualify.

Parents/carers will also have the chance to talk to our Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) team to learn more about pre-vocational training, funding options, and more.
